95% of all e-mails are Spam?

According to annual research, based on over a million e-mails of Barracuda Networks customers, over 95% of all messages sent in 2007 are spam. In comparison with 2004 spam share was “only” 70%. In the good old times (2001) it was just 5%!

50% of global network users receive five or less spam messages every day, 65% face under 10 spam emails, and 13% are bombarded with 50 or more useless e-mails daily.

The other “good” news is spam is getting more popular and harder to identify. New technologies help these unwished messages to penetrate through spam filters and protections. On the other side spam producers increase the usage of attached files as PDF and other similar formats.

According to 57% of people participating in the research spam is worst type of unwanted advertising. To solve the problem Barracuda Networks is developing products which may help to reduce spam. For more information visit www.barracudanetworks.com.
