Yahoo AOL Yes – Microsoft No!

Microsoft has been trying to take over Yahoo to close the gap with Google the number one search engine. The latest “Breaking News” has it that Yahoo may buyout AOL. Now to any business savvy consumer the latter makes since.

Yahoo only needs the right playing field and management to become the next “bonanza” as it once was. There was a time when I remember its stock was once worth $300 per share. Now those boom days are over and what Yahoo needs is to do refocus on what it currently has. The AOL deal could bring in more traffic and add revenue to boost its shares as it hopes to do so. But that is what Yahoo wants if it cannot hold off a buyout.

Let’s talk bonanzas for a little. Microsoft not only wants to head off Google but perhaps play in the gold with Alibaba. This site is one of the largest of its kind with direct links to wholesalers and manufacturers in China.

For consumers such mergers between huge corporations are hardly a good thing. As everyone knows competition is good and not enough is always bad. Do you remember Netscape? Well Microsoft indirectly succeeded and may do so again in this situation if the public and shareholders do not do or say anything.
