Haveamint > Google Analytics

Having tried both, I can safely say that Mint is better. Primarily because of a few things. One of which is mint remains your property not Google’s. Who knows what Google is doing with the data? Just recently I was asked if I want to ‘share’ this data with Google and its other apps, well I’m sorry but it has gone too far. Also Google is probably already using this data in its search results Relevancy Results anyone?

Mint costs 30 bucks (full tank of gas?) per one site license, it is easy to install and access, you can set it to private or sharing so others can look, and it is REAL TIME. This means that baring a few things you can check up to the minute where referals are coming from and what searches people are using to find your site. I found that with Google anal(y)tics, It would show a lot of data through Google search, but when I switched to haveamint, I would see data coming from more searches, like live.com and yahoo.com.

Mint is an extensible, self-hosted web site analytics program. Its interface is an exercise in simplicity. Visits, referrers, popular pages and searches can all be taken in at a glance on Mint’s flexible dashboard.

You can really dig deep with the data if you wish and there are user supported plugins which extend its usability called “peppers”. I haven’t delved to deeply into these, but installed the Vista desktop app, which can give me upto the minute reports! Fantastico! Is this a pepper?

I found with Google analytics that finding referal sites was a pain in da butt, because it would never show the actual URL involved. Don’t get me wrong some things are good with Google analytics, like the graphs, and bounce rate, but I think if you are are hardcore SEO, or marketing executive, think hard before adding the Big G’s code to your site. Not because we should all become paranoid

Overall 5 stars!
