Yahoo Email Banner Adds Infected
If you are using Yahoo email it’s a good chance you may have been infected by a Trojan. It’s a good thing I just installed Avira Anitivrus or I would not have been aware of it. I am more impressed with this free version all the time and may even consider buying it.
When it comes to using antivirus software I have not been overly excited. Previously I allowed Avast to insure peace of mind when it comes to surfing the web. As a local scanner it is about as pathetic as AVG. Now I am starting to worry about its reliability online.
Now back to the worrisome subject at hand; it may look as if the future might not appear so bright for the once safer web based email. It seems there are ways for web based pirates to insert infected banners into any given banner network. This is cause for concern, as many people use Yahoo’s more popular web based service over any other.
A note to Yahoo, if I remember correctly, it was an NBL banner displayed when the warning appeared. After checking the delete option and clicking ok Avira seemed to be fine with the following proceedings. A note to users, please go install Avira Anitvirus now. The only down side is seeing it display, occasionally, a pop up type add attempting to psyche you into making a purchase. And yes, please do a full scan after installing any updates.
