Does Page Rank matter?

By admin | Posted in seo | No Comments

I read a lot of comments on forums which state Page Rank no longer matters. This is not true - do you think Goolge would keep a technology which no longer had any use? Their whole search algorithm was based on that unique formula for ranking sites. Now although it might not particular pertain to ranking for a particular keyword or phrase it has importance in terms of things like crawling. Basically the higher your PR the more Google views your site as important and the more it will crawl your site.

Example 1: Site a has a Page Rank of 2 and you make a change to the sites main title or some meta tags. Well it updates in the search results about 2 weeks later.

Example 2: Site b has a Page Rank of 3 - close to 4. The same thing is repeated yet Google updates this within one day or maybe even hours.

I have first hand experience of this - higher PR sites have more crawl rates and deeper indexing.

So ya it does matter.
