I am bizarely impressed how companies can market generic items to specfic demographics or target markets, such as Dualit do with toasters. I mean you take a generic item that makes bread crispy (great invention btw) and then stylize it and put a high price on it. Apparently it does make your toast nice and gives an even burn, but why do people chose to purchase these kind of items when a standard one would probably work just as good? This is what marketers are supposed to do, get inside the blackbox of the customer, and devise all these elements like pricing as a luxury item. So what is the ultimate toaster?
