The Wireless Future…

Imagine a future with no wires or cables. A seamless digital world without the mess of wires and cables. It is on the horizon. Even now though things that are supposed to be wireless are still wired, such as wireless mice, as you still have to connect the wireless receiver part to the computer via a cable. When moving things around or moving to a new home things are often placed around based on cable length. How long will it be before we look with astonishment in museums at how humans used to live with cables, you can picture it now:

“Look Johnny theres a kettle with a plug and wires”.

I can’t wait for this day. My whole floor is clutered with cables, as much as I try to hide them, they are still there like unwanted dead pet snakes on the wooden floor.

I have tried to go “wireless”, the mouse is wireless for a start. The current problem is wireless isn’t exactly wireless in most cases. Wireless networking equiment is still plugged in with a cable, wireless headset for gaming is still plugged into the PC with a cable. I think we might be moving towards a “reduced wired society” before we actually go completely wireless. Some concept homes are moving towards this ideal, such as the Ipad in Dubai, this is expensive though, all the cables are at least hidden and everything runs of a powerful server, so your home is computerized.
