Wikio is a new user based search engine similar to Wikipedia in which content is provided by users
“Wikio is a user managed news search engine. It watches, real time, thousands of news sources, gathers hundreds of thousands of stories every day and classifies them by their topics in a multi millions documents database. Information classification is based both on its relevancy and on its member’s popularity who vote, discuss or even write new stories.”
We submitted our blog to Wikio – although we are not sure what this means exactly but you can also personalise pages that serve the news you want. This site follows the trend that appears to be user centric content. User created content part of Web 2.0 as Wikio explains “invites you to create personal pages by selecting the info that interests you.” Of course this is good news for those that like to create their own content. It is in beta like everything else Web 2.0 and we did find some bugs and annoyances like it sent us back to the home page a lot when clicking various links.
